Soot 10. Timeblind - GHOSTIFICATION EP
vinyl 12″ &
Hi-fi dubstep/dub made from twisted crystalline tech sounds and some of the deepest bass we’ve heard in awhile. Spacious, funky, and restrained… just make sure your subwoofer is turned up!
Futuristic bass with metaphysical weight from Timeblind, producer of the highly influential dubtronica track ‘Rastabomba’. Sexy transparent vinyl packaged in clear vinyl sleeves First Timeblind release since his critically acclaimed album on Orthlorng Musork.

“Absolutely excellent single from Timeblind who has picked up the dubstep virus here and gone all haunted on us. The feeling here is precise dubby electronics a la Rhythm and Sound mixed with dubstep’s speed and haunted bass plus a few live sounds. It’s a good and imaginative mix of tracks which should make some of the UK dubstep producers take note. Ontological Ground of being is the best here though, which takes Jackson style hiccupping cut up vocal samples and mixes them with a morphed reggae style bassline and drums to produce a new shade of music.” - Warpmart
Soot 8. Filastine - BURN IT - CD album
Filastine’s Burn It is one of those rare debut albums that reveal an artist operating at the height of their powers. A Hip-Hop backbone supports live polyriddims, collaborating musicians, lush electronica, field-recordings, and an array of guest MCs and singers. The result is genuinely fresh, streetwise, and solid. From start-to-finish.
While Burn It will satisfy beat-heads, the album also exhibits a deeper musicality. Check the upright bass, horns, and sultry French vocals of “Palmares” or the trio of singers on “Ja Helo”. “Quémalo Ya” was composed on a Brazilian rooftop with vocals tracked in Havana, while Filastine assembled his studio in the medina square of Marrakesh to get the snake-charmer flutes of “Judas Goat”.
If you were to circle the Earth a few times, listening closely to the beats and noises of the streets, it might sound something like Burn It.
Soot 7. Filastine - Judas Goat b/w Palmares 7″
(Buy Here!)A 7″ by newcomer FILASTINE. Side B features a lush and lazy dubhop beat with live stand-up bass, sultry gyspy horns and evocative female vocals in French. Side A is timely blend of breakbeat science and proper Middle Eastern instrumentation. This single was recorded on location in Marrakech, Seattle, and Rio de Janeiro.
FILASTINE plays percussion and collaborates with local musicians, chopping up and processing the final results for a seamless blend of samples, beats, and live realtime playing. A sweet & tough soundtrack for now.
Apart from his solo production work, ex-¡Tchkung! member Filastine participates in the black block marching band Infernal Noise Brigade and plays percussion alongside DJ /rupture and Abdel Rahal in Nettle.
Soot 6. Ove-Naxx CD/12″ EP
Ove-Naxx - Bullets From Habikino City HxCx CD/12″ (Buy Here!)Bullets From Habikino City HxCx is a 32-minute EP by Ove-Naxx, a young rising star within Japan’s highly evolved noise and electronica scene who is about to bend heads worldwide.
Bullets From Habikino City HxCx, Ove-Naxx’s first release outside of Japan, showcases a delirious take on raggamuffin drum & bass and post-modern Nipponese pop. Catchy synth melodies buzz inside fast-moving thickets of percussion. Reggae and video-game music are an obvious influence, as are Japanese harmonic systems.
The overall sound can be compared to artists such as Venetian Snares, DJ /Rupture, Knifehandchop or Squarepusher, but Ove-Naxx’s superb production has a voice all its own. Meticulous sampling, nonstandard IDM flourishes, and psychedelic digital noise swell around uptempo reggae-flavored beats as funky as they are fractured. Ove-Naxx makes intricate pop songs and is unafraid to use distortion, speed, and mayhem as compositional tools.
Despite its hypercomplex drum programming, this is unabashedly soulful music - flowing earnestly from Ove-Naxx’s strange cyborg heart.
Soot 4. Mutamassik - War Booty 12″ EP
(Sold out!)The source material for this EP was a limited-edition promo CD–when Mutamassik repatriated to Egypt, customs officials confiscated all remaining copies! No joke. That’s how serious her sound is… MUTAMASSIK (meaning ’stronghold’ in Arabic), is an Egyptian producer and DJ currently based in Brooklyn. War Booty draws on Mutamassik ’s background in Sa’aidi folk music from the upper Nile valley, classical Arab song, and Coptic culture (Egypt’s Christian minority)… as well as the streetwise schooling in hiphop & breakbeat poetics she received after moving to America as a youngster.
Mutamassik ’s pioneering style has led to repeat performances at Ramadan celebrations in Paris, NYC’s experimental Soundlab gatherings and underground African clubs. We’re proud to announce that, apart from compilation appearances, Soot #4 is Mutamassik ’s debut!
DJ /rupture contributes a remix guaranteed to make the speakers shake. Packaged in heavyweight 12″ with hand-branded record jackets.
